dorkus_malorkus | How is your "chart ruler" determined, and what exactly is it? |
Cat | Your ascendant is your chart ruler. eg: If you had a Virgo Asc your chart ruler would be Mercury, Libra Ascendant would give a chart ruler of Venus. etc |
dorkus_malorkus | Ohhhhhh, ok. Thanks Cat, so my chart ruler is Mercury |
Cat | Same as mine |
dorkus_malorkus | Yay Rock on!!! |
Randall | Mine, too. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark |
FishKitten | Hi all. I'm new to this forum and although I've studied astrology on and off for many years, I have to admit that I have some huge holes in my knowledge of the subject. (So, sorry if I ask some dumb questions.) Anyway, my Ascendant is Leo. Does that mean the Sun is my chart ruler? Does anyone know of any past threads or websites where I can see what that means? |
Cat | Hi Fishkitten Yes you're correct...the Sun is your chart ruler. Here's a link to all the past lessons - you'll see the lessons re Ascendant there. http://www.linda-goodman.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=displayprivate&number=12&topic=000096 PS: And please don't worry about asking questions - ask as many as you like. No such thing as a dumb question |
FishKitten | Wow, thanks Cat. Lots of great info in those links. |
NikiSpeedy | Hmm -- Having a Scorpio Asc gives me Pluto as my chart ruler -- and i can tell ya that my life has just been just one transformation after another. Am feeling a little "wore out" from it all. Pluto in Leo Rx and intercepted in 9th, tho it makes an almost perfect trine to Venus. And it even Squares the Asc -- so why we makes our lives so complicated is food for thought. |
Randall | Pluto is the new ! He can be a doozy. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark |
Randall | Pluto reminds me of Shiva (Hindu god of destruction). When Westerners first heard of Shiva, they were shocked that people would honor such a god. But it makes sense, if you think about it. To make way for something new and better, you sometimes have to blast away the old. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Cat | Good comparison Randall |
NikiSpeedy | Am i better yet? Sounds about right Randall - Shiva & Pluto - i bet there are other Scorpio Asc around here that would agree. I spose we all got stories from a very young age. Sure would like a break, tho somehow i think (lol) i not gonna get one. Guess i have this for life, huh? And, oh boy, Progressed Asc is Capricorn. Ahh, happy days -- sheesh. |
proxieme | Now, I've Scorp rising, too, and wish to know if I should count only my Pluto or also my Mars as my chart ruler(s)? If the latter, in equal measure or w/ more weight given to one? Will that question be answered by "chart factors"? For instance, my Pluto's in the 12th - the House ruled by the sign of my Sun...but then my Mars is in Leo, the sign that rules the house that my Sun is actually in. And then how about aspects? My Pluto has no major aspects, save the generational one w/ Neptune (the only other aspect being a quincunx w/ my Sun); but then my Mars is in an almost exact conjunction with my North Node (both at 29 Leo) and in an out-of-sign conjunction with my Jupiter.*breathes* Long question truncated, which should I look to more as my chart ruler? |
NikiSpeedy | Hey Prox -- Since we got the discovery of Pluto in 193something - i would tend to go with that instead of Mars. LOL - but if ya wanna talk Mars, i got it in Aries, conjunct Venus. Mebbe we should consider what feels most at "home for us -- the Pluto experience feels more at home for me. |
moondreamer | So than my chart ruler is: THE SUN! |
Randall | Can't get much better than the Sun! ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark |
Motherkonfessor | wheeeee.. Pluto rules this chart too.... *gasp* no wonder I can't get any ground beneath me. And maybe it explains why I always get the Tower in my tarot readings..i will have to ask in the other forum for that. Most of my life i find myself asking "What did I do to deserve this?" I guess Pluto just answered that question. Joy. tee hee |
